Ekiti ADC Primaries: Thugs Invade Collation Centre As Electoral Officials scamper for safety

As Ekiti State prepares for the 2026 gubernatorial poll, the primary election of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state has been marred by external forces as thugs stormed the collation centre to disrupt the peaceful activities.

The party, which was barely eight months since its inception, has recorded a series of violence, in their quest to oust the sitting Governor, Biodun Oyebanji from the Government House.

Thugs stormed a popular Hotel in Ado-Ekiti where the collation process was going on after the election across the 16 local government areas, demanding cancellations of results from Oye Local Government Area.

Speaking with journalists, an Aspirant of the party, Professor Kolapo Olusola-Eleka alleged that the result sheet has been doctored and urged the electoral committee to do the needful.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Election Committee, Senator Patricia Akwashiki urged aggrieved members to submit their petition to the national Secretariat of the party for proper action to be taken.

The thugs, in their uniform voice said the result sheet for the LGA was already torn apart by angry delegates in the LGA, wondering how another would be submitted with huge manipulated figures.

The heated atmosphere, made the electoral officials scamper for safety while the collation exercise remains inconclusive.
