…as victim demands justice
It was a gory site as a middle-aged man, Francis Adewumi attacked his wife with matchet and other various dangerous items thereby, inflicting various degrees of injury on her head and other parts of her body in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, before reportedly fleeing the scene.
Recounting her ordeal, the victim said her husband who resides in Lagos State attacked her on her recent visit to Ado-Ekiti. According to the woman, trouble started when her husband accused her of being promiscuous, an allegation she denied.
She described the accusation as unfounded, insisting that she had not engaged in the conduct alleged by her husband. The victim further alleged that her husband had been threatening her life for the past 17 years, expressing concern over the prolonged threats and the latest incident.
The victim therefore demanded justice over the incident, calling for appropriate action to be taken regarding the alleged attack and the threats.
When contacted, the husband, Francis Adewumi gave a different account of the incident, claiming that he mistakenly hit his wife with a mobile phone during an argument.
