Director General, Ekiti State BPP Tasks Contractors on Delivery of Quality Jobs.

The  Director General, Ekiti State  Bureau of Public Procurement, Mr. James Folorunso has charged  contractors handling various projects across  the state to ensure they deliver quality jobs that will stand the test of time.

Mr.Folorunso gave the charge while monitoring some ongoing projects across the state.

According to the Director General, the monitoring exercise which is one of the major functions of the Bureau of Public Procurement became necessary to ensure contractors handling the projects comply with specifications contained in the projects’ Bills of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation [BEME] and ultimately, ensure the State gets  value for money in terms of quality and timely delivery of  the ongoing projects.

He Stressed the commitment of the present administration to delivery of quality jobs and maintained that, the  government would not accept shoddy job from any contractor.

“What we stand for is quality job. Nobody will accept shoddy jobs from you. We expect you to use quality materials and ensure that you abide by the contractual agreement. This government will not compromise standards as the present administration in the State has zero tolerance for substandard materials” ,he said.

Emphasizing on the need for a good job, the DG charged them to live up to expectation and ensure durability of projects that can stand the test of time.

“The expectation of Ekiti people as far as these projects are concern is durability. They want durable projects that can last for a very long time so as to derive expected value from them. 

Reiterating the importance of the projects, especially the ring road and the flyover, the Director General described the projects as  monumental achievements on the part of the administration which according to him would turn around the economic fortunes  of the state when completed.

Speaking on the award of the project, the Special Adviser explained that the ring road project which was awarded to Craneburg Construction Company in  January this year was expected to be completed within 24 months and the flyover project which was awarded last year December is to be completed within 2 years.

Other projects inspected by the Team were; Ado-iworoko Road, Basiri-Oke ala-Obisesan Road and  HMB Road 

The Team also visited; Ikole-ara Isinbode Road, Ikere-Ise-Emure Road, Ikere-Ilawe and Ikere-Igbara-Odo Road projects.
