It was a celebration galore on Monday at the Ado -Central Secretariat ,Oke Oniyo , Ado Ekiti where the Council boss ,Engr.Toyin Ojo honoured the traditional wrestler, Fatomide Oluwasunkanmi for doing the Council proud in the Traditional Wrestling Competition (Udi) at the just concluded Ekiti Festival of Arts & Culture (EKIFEST).
Engr.Toyin Ojo while speaking at the event purposely organized to show appreciation to the gold-winning wrestler, Fatomide , who represented the Council in the wrestling competition, lauded the boy for his exceptional display of skill and strength against his opponents which led to the Council’s first -place finish out of (38)participating local governments and local Council Development Areas in the state .
The Council boss assured the boy that the government would assist him to get to the pinnacle of his wrestling career.
Commending the staff for a series of landmark strides his administration has recorded since the assumption of office ,Engr Ojo attributed the success stories to the unwavering support and cooperation constantly being enjoyed from them.He praised the Community & Social Services Department of the Council for its genuine commitment, seriousness and judicious utilization of money released for the week- long event which eventually earned the Council top position .He urged staff to maintain and sustain the tempo noted that whatever credit received by his government belongs to them all .
Earlier, Mrs. Akin Awogboro, Director of Community & Social Services, commended the Chairman for giving her department the free hands to operate. She stated, “Our victory was made possible by the Chairman’s decision to allow our department to select and screen the best representatives for the council at the competition.” Awogboro explained that the Council’s team emerged victorious, surpassing 37 other participants in the Traditional Wrestling (Udi) and Traditional Cuisine events.
She attributed their success to the timely release of funds and encouragement from the Chairman, which motivated them to excel. She also prayed for God’s continued support of Engr. Ojo’s administration.
In his remarks ,Com.Olaitan Alatise, Head of Local Council Development Administration, congratulated the Council Chairman on the victory. He praised the sterling performance of Engr. Ojo’s administration, stating that he has set benchmarks for excellence in all aspects of governance in the third tier of government. Alatise urged the Chairman to continue his exceptional work, noting that his legacy would be remembered for years to come.
He also commended Fatomide for making the Council proud, encouraging him not to rest on his oars but to persist in his pursuit of excellence.
The high point of the event was the presentation of cash gifts to Fatomide and his coach mr Audu kayode in recognition of their outstanding performance.
