EKITI Fully Committed to Transparency, Due Process in ContractAward – New BPP Boss

The newly appointed Director General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Public Procurement, Mr James Folorunso has reinstated the State Government commitment at maintaining its leading position in the open contract system in Nigeria.

The Director General made the assertion in Ado-Ekiti during a stakeholder’s meeting organized by Accountability Lab, a Non Governmental organization .

Mr Folorunso who noted that Ekiti State Government had carved a niche for itself in the area of transparency in the process of Procurement and contract awards said, Government would work assiduously towards
sustaining the tempo .

Emphasising on the quality of government projects across the state, he expressed the commitment of the present administration to deliver quality jobs that would give value for money

According to the Director General, the government has zero tolerance for shoddy jobs as government would not accept sub standard materials from any contractor in other to enhance durability and maximum use by the people.

He stressed further that the present government has not abandoned any project as work is ongoing on all inherited projects in the state

Speaking on the programme, he described it as welcome development edding that it will put government on the right track

The Bureau’s boss stated further that the State government is working round the clock to provide conducive environment for its citizenry and also, assured the stakeholders that the issues raised on each project would be attended to by the government

He therefore advised the stakeholders to always channel their complaints to appropriate government offices rather than back lashing the state government.

In his remarks, the Coordinator of the Accountability Lab , Mr Odeh Friday said the programme was to ensure that government gets result from the money spent on any project embarked upon and feedback from the people

According to him, the organization has tracked 24 government projects across the state which were assessed at the meeting.

He said that stakeholders such as teachers,media organizations, community representatives and procurement officers in charge of various projects were invited to the meeting to deliberate on the status of the projects.
