In its quest to ensure safety of lives and properties of law abiding and innocent citizens in Ekiti State, the State Police Command paraded some suspected criminals apprehended recently before pressmen at the State Police Headquarters today.
In his brief, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Akinwale Kunle Adeniran said, one Ayeni Oluwasegun Emmanuel and Suleiman Olaoluwa were arrested within Ekiti State University Campus on the February 17, 2024 while attempting to remove one Toyota Matrix Car from where it was parked.
Upon the arrest of the suspects, they made confessional statement that they had earlier, on February 16th, 2024, forcefully opened the door of a Toyota Corolla car parked within the premises of the institution and stole One HP Laptop Computer and different assorted Clothes kept inside the vehicle.
Sulaiman Olaoluwa was Also, identified by a Victim as one of the armed robbers that robbed him of cash sum of #365,000 and two IPhones before dispossessing him of his Toyota Corolla Car at his resident in GRA, Ado-Ekiti.
Investigation further revealed that the suspects were responsible for the stealing of a Toyota Corolla Car in Ado-Ekiti on 27th of May, 2021, a Toyota Camry Car on 2nd of October,2022, another Toyota Camry on the 7th December, 2022 and a Toyota Matrix Car all in Ado-Ekiti, belonging to different people.
More investigation also revealed that the Suspects stole a cash sum of #550,000 from a vehicle parked at the owners premises at GRA, Ado-Ekiti, on the 2nd of February, 2024.
Also, one Awe Deji, a serial burglar who was arrested on the 22nd, February 2024
within the premises of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti, by the Security Guards on duty while attempting to Steal one motorcycle was paraded while other gang members escaped.
On investigation, the Suspect who was handed over to the Police by the hospital management and through intensified efforts by the Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) led to the arrest of one of the fleeing gang Members Ganiyu Rasaq a.k.a Ategun.
During interrogation it was learnt that the gang was responsible for the stealing of numerous vehicles and motorcycles from the hospital prior to their arrest.
In another incident, one Emmanuel Kehinde Isaac and Daniel Olamide Friday were arrested in Iyin Ekiti on 25th, February, 2024 after a tip off while trying to burglar a house. The Command Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Swiftly mobilized to the scene and Condoned off the building. During the operation, the two suspects, Emmanuel Kehinde Isaac and Daniel Olamide Friday were arrested while others escaped.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed that they specialised in hijacking motorcycles in Ado/Ikere Ekiti express road from motorcycle riders by using offensive weapons such as cutlasses and iron rods. They further confessed that they hijacked about eleven motorcycles in Ikere and Ado-Ekiti within six months in 2023.
The suspects also confessed that on 20th, November, 2023, they attacked one Ojo Boyede in Ikere-Ekiti, robbed him of his Bajaj motorcycle and attempted to kill him by inflicting him with high degree of body injuries with iron rod.
The Police Command have recovered three of the stolen Bajaj Motorcycles from the suspects while effort is ongoing to arrest other fleeing gang members and also, recover the rest of the stolen motorcycles.
In a similar case, on March 7th, 2024, one Peter Olutade was arrested after the Command received a report that a store located at the State Airport where iron rods and other construction materials were kept was burgled.
Upon the receipt of the information, the Command Rapid Response squad (RRS) swung into action and arrested the suspect, Peter Olutade, found in his possession were, 18 lengths of 12mm iron rods valued #261,000.
Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the Commission of the crime and further revealed that he has previously involved in stealing of numerous iron rods from the site.
While advising all residents to be security conscious, the Command appreciates the good spirited members of the public for their timely and useful information that led them to achieving these remarkable achievements. He promised that the Command will continue to work tirelessly and round the clock in other to ensure the maximum security of all citizens and the maintenance of law and order in the State.
