Ekiti Police Commissioner Assures Safety of Lives, Properties, Parades Suspects

In order to ensure the sustainability of the peaceful atmosphere being enjoyed by the good people and residents of Ekiti State, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo has directed all the DPOs, Heads of Operations and Intelligence Units to embark on continuous intelligence-led raiding of criminal hideouts. 

He also ordered constant bush combing operations and visibility policing, while also ensuring a good working relationship with other sister agencies and the non-state actors.

The Commissioner of Police made this known at a press briefing/parade of suspects in his office today. Speaking  further, he said undoubtedly, the Command under his leadership shall continue to prioritize the safety of lives and properties of all the good people of Ekiti State, while warning criminal elements to turn a new leaf, steer clear or risk facing the full wrath of the law. 

Analysing the achievements of the command under his leadership, Eribo said, on 14th of September 2025,  operatives of the Command Rapid Response Squad(RRS) embarked on intelligence led surveillance within Ado-Ekiti metropolis. During the operation, two suspects, one Bolaji Kazeem and Isa Sikirulahi were intercepted while riding on a TVS NEO Motorcycle at Isato Area of Ado-Ekiti. Upon searching them, one locally made pistol loaded with a live cartridge and one battle axe were found in their possession. 

He said further that, During investigation, the two suspects confessed that they specialize in removing vehicles and motorcycles from where they are parked especially within Ado-Ekiti metropolis. 

While they also confessed that they recently stole two Toyota Camry vehicles within Ado-Ekiti and have sold them to a dealer who is currently at large. 

Further investigation, according to the Commissioner  led to the recovery of another stolen TVS NEO Motorcycle in their hideout at Omisanjana Area of Ado-Ekiti. According to him, Investigation is in progress for possible arrest and prosecution of the receivers of the stolen vehicles and the recovery of the stolen items.

Also, On 25th of September, 2025 at about 17:00hrs, one Abolaji Rasheed a.k.a B.J, a resident of Owena, Osun State, was arrested while attempting to steal a motorcycle along Igbara Odo road, Ogotun-Ekiti, alongside his gang members who narrowly escaped from the scene of crime. 

In the course of investigation, the arrested suspect confessed that himself and his syndicate member who escaped during the arrest specialize in removing motorcycles from where they are parked within Ekiti State. He further confessed that they have stolen four motorcycles recently which have all been sold to their customers somewhere in Osun State. 

However, one unregistered Boxer Bajaj motorcycle that was ridden to the scene by the suspects was recovered.

Effort is ongoing for the possible arrest of the fleeing suspect, the receivers and the recovery of the stolen motorcycles.

The Police Commissioner noted further that on 11th of September, 2025,  a complainant reported at Ado Central Police Headquarters that his DYNA 150 TOYOTA CABSTER VEHICLE which he parked the previous day inside Tipper Garage, Ijiku-Ijigbo, Ado-Ekiti, has been stolen by unknown thief or thieves. 

The Command operatives at different pindown points and those on surveillance were immediately alerted, and this led to the arrest of two suspects, namely: Mohammed Jamiu and Ahmed, who were intercepted in the stolen vehicle while trying to drive it out of Ado-Ekiti.

During investigation, Eribo said,  the suspect confessed to have stolen the vehicle and were on their way to deliver it to their master who is currently at large.

He said, effort is ongoing for the possible arrest of the alleged master and the recovery of other stolen vehicles/items.

According to CP, “The Aramoko Divisional Police Headquarters, on 25th of September, 2025, arrested one AJETOMOBI AYOMIDE “22YRS” for defiling an 8 year-old child on many occasions and threatening to kill her if she exposes the act.

It was revealed that the father of the victim came to the station and reported on 24th, of the same month that her daughter disclosed to him that, while himself and her mother were away from the house sometime last year(2024) December, the suspect, who was an apprentice in his shop, took her inside and had carnal knowledge of her.

“Furthermore, the mother of the victim revealed that since last December, she noticed that blood has been coming out of her daughter’s private part, little did she know that someone has forcefully had sexual intercourse with her. She stated that they have been going to different hospitals since then for medical treatments.

During investigation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime and stated that he only had carnal knowledge of the victim four times.

The case is currently being investigated by the Gender Unit of the State CID, after which the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.” He said.

Another incident according to the Commissioner was reported on 22nd of September, the Iworoko Divisional Police Headquarters arrested one Prophet Ajayi Oluwatoyin “40yrs” for raping a 20 year-old 100 level student of Ekiti State University. The Victim explained that herself and her friends have been going to the Prophet’s church for prayers to enable them gain favour and succeed in life. 

She stated that on the day the incident occurred, she went to the Prophet alone, and after giving her a liquid substance to drink, she felt dizzy and slept off. According to her, she woke up after sometime only to discover that she was raped by the Prophet as there were white substance suspected to be sperm inside and all over her private part. 

During investigation,  the CP said the suspect did not deny committing the crime,he said the case has been transferred to the Gender Unit of the State CID for thorough investigation and prosecution of the suspect.

Eribo said all the suspects arrested will be arraigned accordingly. The Commissioner of Police extends his  appreciation to all the good spirited members of the public whose credible and timely information supplied have led to these achievements and prayed this gesture should be sustained in order to help ensure a safer and better society.
