EKITI URBAN RENEWAL AGENCY TO PARTNER DONOR  AGENCIES  FOR DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS 

The Ekiti State Urban Renewal is  to partner donor agencies or any private organisations for overall development of Ado Ekiti.

The Chairman of Urban Renewal Agency, Mr Oluwole Ariyo made this assertion after receiving brief from the General Manager of the Agency, Mr Olumide Fatoba in Ado Ekiti.

According to him, a Working Committee has been set up to identify private organisations that are ready to work in collaboration with the Agency to embark on developmental projects in the state capital.

He said the committee would also move round to identify slums and some critical areas that need urgent attention for upgrading to beautify the city.

Earlier in his briefing, the General Manager of the Agency,  Mr Olumide Fatoba said the Ekiti State Urban Renewal Agency (EKSURA) is a physical planning and development outfit of the State Government that aims at improving the physical outlook and infrastructural deficits in urban communities in the state, with a view to raising the standards of living of the inhabitants of these communities.

He said the Urban Renewal Agency was established by the Urban, Regional Planning and Development Law No. 16 of 2011. 

According to him,  the Agency is presently supervised by the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development and falls under the Infrastructure and Industrial Development  programmes of the Governor  Oyebanji’s administration 

 Speaking on the projects embarked upon  during the present administration, the General Manager mentioned external electrification of Agric Olope which according to him involved provision and installation of transformer, connection to the national grid and installation of street lights as well as construction of  Central Business District at Atikankan, Ado Ekiti involving the construction of a Modern Car Park,    Pedestrian Walkway and Neighbourhood Market.
