The lawmaker representing Ise /Orun Constituency and the Chairman House Committee on Security and special duties in the Ekiti State House of Assembly Hon. Babatunde Omotayo has enjoined the stakeholders in the security sector in Ekiti state to be up and doing in their duties.
In a chat with the journalists at the Assembly complex in Ado Ekiti after the plenary, Hon Omotayo condemned the incessant killings of the Point of Sales operators in the State, he solicited the support of all and sundry with the security agencies.
He urged all security agencies and non state actors to redouble their efforts by proffering solutions to the recent security challenges being witnessed in the State which has led to the killings of almost four persons within the spate of one month.
“As Chairman House Committee on Security and special duties with the support of the other members of the Committee and the entire members of the Seventh Assembly, we will not shy away from our responsibility through the enactment of laws that will have direct impacts on the residents of Ekiti State and constant engagement of Security agency both State and non state actors”
Earlier in the plenary, under the matters of urgent public importance, Hon Omotayo, one of the lawmakers elected under the Social Democratic party in the seventh Assembly to represent Ise/Orun Constituency stressed the need to put in place adequate security measures to curb the activities of unknown gunmen who are operating under the guise of Okada riders to perpetrate evils in the State.
The Chairman, House Committee on Security and Special Duties emphasized that Biometric capturing, proper registration and provision of unified uniform to all Okada riders with identification number would enable the government and the residents to be able to monitor the activities of the Okada riders and the miscreants among them would be easily fished out.
He enjoined Ekiti residents to be more security conscious and cooperate with the security agencies in the State in other to make the state peaceful and habitable for the citizens at the urban and the remote parts of the state.
