The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ekiti State has set Friday, October 9 to Thursday October, 15th, 2026, aside for the display of the Preliminary Register of Voters (PRV), hearing of claims and objections, and collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) in the state as part of their preparation for the coming presidential election slated for January, 2027.
The was made known on Monday at the INEC state office in Ado-Ekiti, during the official flag-off and stakeholders’ engagement on the exercise.
The programme brought together the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Administrative Secretary, Electoral Officers, traditional rulers, political party leaders, civil society organisations, the media and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, represented by the Head of Department, General Administration and Procurement, Alhaji Tiamiyu Arowolo; Head of Electoral Operations, Dr. Rahman Badru; and Head of ICT and Voter Registry, Mrs. Titilayo Oderinde, said training for officials handling the exercise had commenced.
According to INEC, the training of Local Government Training Officers began on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the state office, while training for other personnel is ongoing at the 16 local government area offices as of Monday, October 5.
The commission described the training as critical to ensuring officials fully understand procedures for displaying the register and issuing PVCs.
INEC explained that the display of the Preliminary Register of Voters will enable eligible citizens to verify their names, photographs, biometric details and other personal information, while also providing an opportunity to file claims to correct omissions, misspellings and other errors.
Members of the public can also raise objections against entries involving alleged underage persons, deceased individuals, non-citizens or cases of multiple registration, subject to presentation of relevant evidence.
The commission charged its officials to uphold strict impartiality, transparency and integrity throughout the exercise, warning against negligence, absenteeism, political bias, favouritism, extortion or unauthorised alteration of electoral records.
It further directed that the exercise should be made accessible to vulnerable groups, including the elderly, pregnant women, nursing mothers and persons with disabilities.
According to INEC, the Preliminary Register of Voters will be displayed for seven days, from 8::30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily, at designated Registration Areas and local government headquarters. The register will be clearly marked as the Preliminary Register of Voters to allow members of the public, political parties, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to scrutinise it and raise legitimate claims or objections.
The commission urged residents and all eligible voters in Ekiti State to take advantage of the window to verify their details and collect their PVCs where applicable, noting that the success of the exercise depends not only on the commitment of its personnel but also on active citizen participation.
