“Let’s Keep Our Faith, Nigeria Shall Be Good” — Segun Oni

By Afolabi Sunday

The former Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Asiwaju Segun Oni has appealed to all Nigerians to be calm and prayerful that very soon, the hardship the country is facing shall be over and we shall all enjoy the gains of good governance being engineered by the Government of His Excellency Bola Hamèd Tinubu, the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

While addressing journalists at the just concluded 8th edition of Methodist Church Christian Music Festival in Aaye Ekiti,  Asiwaju Segun Oni said his Easter message is what he will give from the state of his heart which is not political. He said the hope that we are dreaming to see and fill is coming to reality with the programmes of the present government coming to fruition.

“I personally changed some money during the week and I was surprised  at the rate that I exchanged the dollar. That means, the programmes of this present government are beginning to yield fruits and we can be confident now to recommend that it won’t be long, that this hardship will not be long. So, I deploy all our people to be calm and prayerful, very soon this hardship will be over and we shall all enjoy the gains of good governance by the present government,” he said.

The former Governor noted further that it is not the present Government that got it wrong, but the country as a whole got it wrong longtime ago and these past governments were too afraid to correct some things which the present government is doing.

“But the present Federal Government is saying we are no longer running away from it, we must confront these problems,  we know that there will be difficulties and some pains but we must address them. But now, I am very happy to see that before long, we are beginning to see the positive dividends of it. I will say let us keep our faith and Nigeria shall be good,” he said.

While giving his remarks at the Music Festival in honour of late Oba Samuel Adebanji Ilori, the Late Olorin of Orin in Aaye Ekiti, Segun Oni noted that the late Olorin, Oba Samuel Adebanji Ilori was a catechist who served the Lord diligently and faithfully during his lifetime and these positive footprints have given cause for him to be celebrated even in death.

He noted further that, because of his faith in God and devotion to Christianity at that period, it would have been difficult to conscript  him to ascend the throne of Olorin of Orin without the cooperation of the late Arch. Bishop of Ilesha Diocese who was the first bishop of Ekiti diocese.

He noted further that the late Olorin took  royalty from priesthood, that is why he was even more glorified in death. “So we can say that we are celebrating a man like David, a royalty that was blessed by the hands of God,” he said.
