Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has described his re-election victory as a clear endorsement of his administration’s performance, saying the outcome reflects the confidence of Ekiti people in his government’s policies and programmes.
Speaking with journalists at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, Oyebanji said the people made a deliberate decision to renew his mandate after assessing the impact of his administration over the last four years.
The governor attributed the victory to the implementation of his six-pillar agenda, which he said had positively impacted various sectors across the state and improved the lives of residents.
He said the election result demonstrated that Ekiti people are politically enlightened and capable of deciding what works best for them, noting that they chose continuity over uncertainty.
Oyebanji also described the outcome as unprecedented, saying his party recorded victories in virtually all polling units across the state, a development he said reflected widespread acceptance of his administration.
The governor dismissed claims of voter apathy, arguing that political parties, the media and other stakeholders all share responsibility for encouraging citizens to participate in elections.
He further described the victory as a vote of confidence in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying federal government reforms had provided states with the resources needed to execute developmental projects.
Oyebanji also commended the peaceful conduct of the election, noting that the state witnessed no major incidents of violence throughout the campaign period and on election day.
He pledged to use the renewed mandate to accelerate development projects, deepen his shared prosperity agenda and work harder to improve the welfare of Ekiti residents.
The governor thanked voters, security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), election observers, traditional rulers, religious leaders, party members and other stakeholders for their roles in ensuring a successful election.
