The Executive Chairman of Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof Femi Akinwumi has felicitated with Christians all over the world, especially Ekiti indigenes home and in diaspora as they celebrate the yuletide.
Prof. Akinwumi in a Christmas greetings issued in Ado Ekiti called on the people to foster love, unity and peace among one another in tandem with the teachings of Jesus Christ whom he described as the center of Christmas celebrations.
He urged people to be mindful of the significance of this season which according to him symbolizes love, peace, humility and kindness by showing appreciation to God and share love among fellow human beings.
“The real essence of Christmas is love and sharing, people must therefore emulate the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ by committing themselves to the act of giving and sharing as well as love one another as God loved us and gave us his only Son.”
He also charged on the need to exemplified those values by being liberal during the yuletide by sharing love through giving of material possessions to the needy and vulnerable people, describing it as the fundamental principle of Christmas and the centre of our celebrations.
“The festive season should present us the opportunity to share love among ourselves and think more about the needy and vulnerable and extend our hands of fellowship to them because the true spirit of Christmas is love, giving and hope which must continue to guide our actions beyond this season into the coming year.”
The SUBEB chairman extolled the virtues of the State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and the speed of development in the state, particularly in the basic education sector and called on the people to continue to support the governor towards achieving all his mandates.
“Governor BAO has done for us almost everything we need as a people, as teachers, even as pupils, so if we have anything left that he should do for us, we should consider it done already. Just one thing I want us to do is to continue to pray and support the present administration as he deliver further the shared prosperity of his administration to the people.”
He urged the people to have faith and confidence in the government of All Progressive Congress both at national and state levels as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will continue to put resources together to fastract more development that will eredicate sufferings and poverty among the masses, adding that the nation will soon overcome its present economic predicaments.
Prof. Akinwumi while wishing the people a peaceful Christmas celebration and a new year filled with hope and possibilities, he prayed that the new year will bring more relief and comfort to the people as well as progress and abundant prosperity to Ekiti State in particular and Nigeria in general.
